Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a generic term for alloy steels
containing 10.5% or more chromium.
These steels are
corrosion resistant.
This resistance to attack is due to the oxide film formed on the
surface of the steel which forms naturally when exposed to oxygen.
Although extremely thin, this invisible, inert film is tightly
adherent to the metal and extremely protective. All stainless steels
have a resistance to corrosion however care must be taken to choose
the correct alloy to suit the application.
At MICO Metals we stock Stainless
steel in various forms and grades from many top local and
international sources. We also work with top mills to produce new
grades such as 445M2 and 404GP. For further information on these &
